Eyepiece for reading the declination ring scale

　クック25cm屈折望遠鏡の、赤緯環目盛を読み取る筒と先端部分の写真です。目盛環をランプで照らし、直角プリズムで光束を接眼部に導きます。

　This is a photograph of the tube and the tip of the telescope to read the declination ring scale of the Cooke 25cm refractor telescope. The ring is illuminated by a lamp, and a right-angle prism guides the light beam to the eyepiece.

　上は、筒の接眼部側にはめ込む、赤緯環目盛読み取り用接眼レンズです。

　Above is the eyepiece for reading the equinox ring scale, which fits into the eyepiece side of the tube.　

　筒の接眼部（内径約43mm）は、スリワリ構造になっています。接眼レンズの重量は246g、全長は87mmです。金属部分は真鍮製です。

　The eyepiece of the tube (inner diameter of about 43 mm) is of a sliver construction.

　The weight of the eyepiece is 246g and its total length is 87mm. The metal part is made of brass.

　対物側レンズの直径は約39mm（右端）、アイレンズ側レンズの直径は約25mm（中央）

接眼レンズの形式はラムスデンのようです。焦点距離は不明です。

　Diameter of the objective side lens is about 39 mm (far right), diameter of the eye lens side lens is about 25 mm (center)

The eyepiece lens format appears to be Ramsden. Focal length is unknown.

　接眼レンズ見口の塗装の剥がれに、100年の歳月を感じます。

　The peeling paint on the eyepiece viewport shows the age of 100 years.

　定規をこの接眼レンズで拡大し、撮影しました。色収差が殆どなく、視野の端まで線の歪みがありません。優れたレンズ設計であることが分かります。

　A ruler was magnified with this eyepiece and photographed. There is almost no chromatic aberration and no line distortion to the edge of the field of view. This shows that it is an excellent lens design.

　赤緯目盛環が実際にどう見えるか、試してみたくなりますね。

　It would be interesting to try to see how the declination ring scale actually looks.
